"Of course I can't keep geeky information to myself?"

The ads are a project of mine :)

>History

My channel started in 2018 as a contest with a friend. We wanted to become big Dutch YouTubers and get quickly rich, just like everyone else! How hard could that be?

I started making videos on my phone because I didn't have a decent computer to play on. As you can imagine, the videos I and my friends made French lectures actually look fun.

Back then, I was editing my videos on my phone, which was a terrible experience. Constant ads, watermarks, and generally poor output quality. And... my editing skills were... really, really bad. I often added a filter to my video and some Dutch text supported with way too loud music...

The race to 10 subscribers ended on New Year's Eve, when I convinced my entire family to subscribe to my channel... I've uploaded dozens of videos in the past 6 months that no one watched except me...

My channel quickly died after the contest. I had won the competition, and to be honest, I didn't really enjoyed making videos for views.

End.

Or was it?

In 2022, I became obsessed with programming Minecraft plugins. One problem, however, was that I couldn't even program "hello world" in Java (the language you had to know). I did some research and found a Scratch-like program called Visual Bukkit. It allowed you to easily create plugins without having to program.

What. A. Goldmine.

But I quickly ran into problems. I understood Visual Bukkit as well as French. And... Je ne parle pas baguette very well. So I came across the videos from OneDayDone, who at the time made a lot of cool videos. Again.

What. A. Goldmine.

Thanks to him, and a Java course, I learned the basics of plugin development. Unfortunately, OneDayDone stopped making videos. Howerver, there was a gap in the market though...

I set all my videos to private and changed my channel to a Visual Bukkit channel. Then I uploaded my first Visual Bukkit video with overly loud background music. I promoted it on the Discord server and hoped for the best.

To my surprise, the video did quite well (~100 views in 3 days). Many people were very enthusiastic, which motivated me to make more videos, because:

"Of course I can't keep geeky information to myself?"

I proudly showed off all the projects I'd created in Visual Bukkit and taught everyone how I did it.

Since then, I've gotten much better at editing and teaching, although I'm still learning. It's always fun to watch my first videos and compare them to my latest.

Currently, I make a new Visual Bukkit video whenever I've created a cool project or learned a new concept.

>Future

Unfortunately, making videos about a small niche gets boring after a while. That's why I plan to focus on broader topics.

I plan to make videos about Minecraft server software and hosting, something I've been doing for the past x years. I'd also like to talk more about programming and cybersecurity in general, as that's become my new obsession.
